Homeowners who will open their homes to visitors

1.   Ted Johnson and Bonita DeLooper  (Huddleston)

The DeLooper-Johnson home was expanded by 2600 square feet to make their weekend retreat a lake retirement home. The addition included a modern kitchen, a dining room to seat 12, a piano room/study and a large garage. The former screened-in porch became a sunroom with windows, and a fireplace was added there for cold weather times. You will see antiques and several foreign artifacts from their travels overseas.

2.  James and Catriona Erler (Silver Bay, Huddleston)

James and Catriona Erler's "Loblolly House" was inspired by the Gamble House, a famous Arts and Crafts period house in California,  Designed by Jim Erler, the architecture includes wood trim with strong horizontal lines, an inglenook or chimney corner, stained glass indoor lanterns, and stained glass trimmed doors.  There are Arts and Crafts furnishings with William Morris fabrics. The porch has remotely-retractable screens. Outside is an attractive fountain patio and fire pit.  Please click here to see a video describing unique history of the design of this lovely home.

3.  Richard and Diane Pollock (Gills Creek Estates, Moneta)
Richard and Diane Pollock’s home is decorated with lovely oil paintings by his father and brother. The great room, open kitchen and dining room view the cove and farmland on the far shore. The garage bonus room houses Richard’s impressive collection of over 12,000 toy soldiers in dioramas depicting the Charge of the Light Brigade and other famous conflicts. A media room has movie posters, and the nearby bath has a 1929 claw foot tub.

4.  Terry and Dee Chisholm (Baywood, Moneta)
Decorating in The Chisholm Home features warm, earthy colors. There are main floor fireplaces in the great room and the gathering room off the kitchen. And what a lovely kitchen it is! The master suite has a unique bathroom with full-body shower heads. The second level bedroom, bunkroom and lounging room accommodate guests easily. The handicap-accessible lake level features a kitchen, bedroom, two baths, media room and family room with pool table.

5.  Tom and Ginger Tanner (Baywood, Moneta)
Tom and Ginger Tanner’s home, custom designed by the owners, is cottage style with an open floor plan and wide water views on multiple sides. Walnut floors and eclectic décor create a relaxed feel on main level. The fun atmosphere downstairs with bright colored walls and ceramic tile was constructed by the owners. Memories of family, scuba, motorcycle trips, water skiing and Tom’s VMI experience complete the décor.

6.  Jerry and Juanita Trotter (Park Place, Moneta)
The Trotter home in Park Place has a stylish-yet-comfortable open floor plan that is very family-friendly. Accent highlights include dramatic tray ceilings in the dining room and master bedroom and an arching fireplace in the great room. Antiques and a family crest were made by the owner’s father and grandfather, both master carpenters. The homeowners created most of the unique window treatments. Don’t miss the laundry room—it’s very cute!

7.  Chris and Amy Bordeaux (Twin Chimneys, Wirtz)
La Maison Bordeaux was built in 2010 on the site of a former family cabin. The exterior is stone with unique poplar tree-bark siding.  Inside, oak flooring, wooden moldings and beams continue the rustic look. The décor is Country French with warm yellows and reds, complete with Belgian antique armoires, Mechlen tables, and unique European artifacts--Quimper dishes, iron chandeliers and artwork--collected while the couple lived in Brussels.

8.  Doug and Polly Fikse (Water's Edge, Penhook)
The Fikse home, constructed in Old World European style, easily accommodates large family gatherings in a cozily-arranged 11,000 square feet, complete with 4 guest rooms, most with sitting areas, and 2 additional bunk rooms. Of special note are Brazilian cherry floors, beautiful moldings, and a hidden door leading to a street-scene lower level with wine cellar, media room and courtyard fountain. An outdoor kitchen, patio and spa complete the lakefront ambiance.
